Leprechaun Bait


Whether you're making a Leprechaun trap, or you want to try and keep your home trick-free by leaving a distraction/peace offering out for those naughty little elves on St. Patrick's Day Eve- this Leprechaun Bait just might do the job.



It has all the essentials for attracting Leprechauns:
  • Gold Nuggets (Peanuts* dusted with edible gold powder).
  • A Rainbow of colors (candy coated chocolate)
  • Lucky Shamrocks (green colored white chocolate that I piped into shamrock shapes)
  • And since Leprechauns can't resist practical items size this bait even has Leprechaun sized "walking sticks" (pretzel sticks) they can use on those long hikes to hide their gold.
* If there are peanut allergy concerns, some puffed rice or even yellow chocolate could be used instead of nuts.

Since Leprechauns really love to play jokes I can't guarantee your house will be safe from tricks (so don't be surprised if you still find your milk is green). But I bet this bait disappears! And if there's one thing I know about Leprechauns it's that they appreciate gifts and often return the favor by leaving a small lucky token or treasure behind.

To make the shamrocks pipe melted white chocolate onto parchment. (I made both three-leaf and four-leaf clovers.) Once they're dry they can be lifted off the parchment paper and placed into the Leprechaun bait. If you want to skip this step and make the bait even easier you can toss in some shamrock shaped sprinkles instead.

    Very clever! Never thought about setting out a bit of "bait" for the Leprechauns! But I am loving this mixture! And so will my sweetie! Leprechauns will have to work fast to beat him to it!!

      Thanks Egretta! What a great idea to package some bait and give it away before the holiday! I love that. I think if it were being packaged I'd use shamrock sprinkles instead of the piped chocolate because they might be too fragile to survive bagging without breaking. (Although they did just fine all mixed up in the bowl.)

      Yes lol, maybe set up with a motion release shutter. But I bet I'd still have a hard time catching a snapshot of them since they are notoriously tricky and fast. ; )
