Back with a Birdhouse

You might have noticed my little hiatus. It was a hectic week last week to begin with and then a few unexpected things happened... let's just say the back bumper of my car isn't in the same condition it was when the week started. It now bears the distinct impression of someone else's front bumper.

But I'm back... and I've brought some pictures of my finished birdhouse with me!

Usually I start out with a very specific idea of a completed craft but this project was a "creative wander" pretty much start to finish. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and it was so much fun to make decisions on what to do as I went. The finish product felt like a surprise even to me.

The blue-green board on the base is actually painted with chalkboard paint. Even though it's after Valentine's day (my original inspiration for this project) I'll still put this out on the porch and write a little "welcome" message on the board... once I buy some chalk.
