You might remember that I started it a few days before Christmas. At that point I was going to knit a lovely pattern from the Yarn Harlot. I figured it would be pretty fast and I really loved the look of the finished scarf. And since Mom doesn't wear hats I thought the wrap around the head option might work for her.
Then I came to realize two things- 1. I probably liked this idea more than she would and probably should just be knitting it for myself. And 2. I wanted to give Mom something she couldn't (or really wouldn't) knit herself.
That's how I arrived at a cabled pattern. Mom could do it, but she's never attempted cables and I know she mostly likes to knit things that she doesn't have to pay such close attention to... which is not cabling!
You might also remember the... let's call it- challenges I had with the new pattern I chose. It was hard to accomplish what with being printed incorrectly and all.
Now I think the rough patches are through. And I'm hoping that her Christmas Present will be done by St. Patrick's Day. After that it's no longer scarf weather around here. And as everyone is quick to point out when I say that, "the yarn is green-ish and the pattern very celtic looking".
In all seriousness I hope to have it done long before then... but cables and I have a way of misunderstanding each other... keep your fingers crossed for me.
Very pretty! Good luck keeping track of those cables.
