Now that the holidays are over and all the crafty gifts have been handed out, I can share the felted Santa Claus I made for my MIL to add to her Santa collection.
I used both needle and wet felting techniques. Which seems like the perfect mix of speed and detail- so it's become my favorite way of making larger pieces (Santa stands about 10 inches tall I think).
My favorite part was the beard. I love using the wool locks, but haven't found much use for them other than a Santa beard.
This was my first attempt at needle felting a human face. It wasn't as horrible as I imagined... but let's just say I'm glad there was a large beard covering most of it up, because there was a lot less pressure on me to get the features and proportions perfect.
I am not surprised at how beautiful this turned out, and I'm sure it will be a treasured addition to you MIL's collection! I have all the supplies, but have yet to be successful at this craft beyond some acorns and other "flat" things that I created.

ReplyDeleteAww thanks so much!
DeleteThis looks great,I have supplies to do it but my nerve stuck & won't try it,ha,ha,I'll start doing something get agitated & quit.Your MIL will love it....Way go....
ReplyDeleteThanks. My recommendation is to just go for it- felting is the one place where agitation works for you! Take out your frustration on the wool and it will felt that much quicker!
