Sweet of the month- Mom cookies

It's the first Monday of May and time for my sweet of the month post. Problem was I had no idea what to make. I took this past week off from blogging to enjoy the amazing spring weather we've been having and figured I'd come up with something over the hiatus, but today inspiration still hadn't struck...until I was on my way home this afternoon.

There I was waiting at a stop light- I have no idea where this idea came from, but I suddenly though doing the classic "Mom tattoo" as a cookie might look cool.

I quickly took a left towards the grocery store instead of a right to go home so I could buy frosting. (Incidentally I'd never tried that cookie flood icing in a bag but it worked pretty much as well as homemade icing and was quicker since I could buy it already tinted to the colors I needed.)

To make the shape I used a heart cookie cutter I already had. Then cut the banner tips out with a knife, adding them to the heart by pressing them into the edges.

I kind of like that it's not the traditional Mother's Day look. What do you think?

Thanks Pam- this was the pre-made cookie flood icing in a bag, it was pretty much full proof I swear!
