New Year, New Blog

Well, here it is... my first post.

I'm not one to make resolutions for a new year, but I do like to look back on the year about to end and reflect on how my life has changed (or not). I also like to look ahead and think about my plans and goals for the new year. This "blog thing" sort of came out of nowhere for me- I woke up on New Year's Day, literally just opened my eyes, with one very strong thought in my head- I'm going to have a blog about crafting. New Year, New Blog!

Now I know what you might be thinking, and no I wasn't suffering from a night of too much celebrating (and yes it's 22 days later, chock that up to naming indecision and technical difficulties). It was just a lighting bolt of a thought, and to be honest they've happened that way before:

  • It's how I figured out how to purl when I was learning to knit. I went to bed confused and frustrated but woke up with a clear correct idea of what to do.
  • It's the same way I've had the answers to my most challenging invitation making obstacles. (A bit of info on me: from time to time I  make wedding invitations- no doubt there will be more blogging about this later.)
  • This is even how I came up with the plan to rearrange the configuration of a bathroom and get an enlarged closet in my house. (Desperately needed. House is old. No previous clear way to accomplish. Enough said.)

I have learned to go with these thoughts.

Now I'm going to say this upfront- a blog may be an odd choice for me. I've never kept a journal, I sometimes struggle to share my thoughts with other people, and I don't have the best writing skills (which I dare say is, evident already, I wish you knew how many times I've googled things like "can you start a sentence with the word But"). Despite all this, I am nothing if I'm not crafty (and O.K. a bit sarcastic too). But (the answer is yes) I have this urge to share my crafting experiences, and hopefully the humor in the misadventures my projects sometimes take.

So here's to blogging!
