I'd originally meant to include these carrots as part of the big felt food set I made my nephew for Christmas, but I ran out of time and didn't get to them. Which turned out to not be so bad after all because these really were the perfect thing for Easter.
I made three versions of carrots (whole, cut-apart, and sliced) because I really wanted to give my nephew a whole range of play options (everything from paying grocery store to cooking a finished meal).

First I made the whole carrots. They were really fast and easy- just a cone of orange felt and some green leaves.
After that I tried making the cut-apart versions. It's basically the whole carrot with the cone cut in thirds. I've never done cut-apart food before, but though it'd be fun to try. It was a little tricky at first (the hardest part was sewing on the tiny pieces of hook and loop) but after a while I got the hang of it.
Then I made a bag of slices.
The slices were by far the most tedious of all the versions to sew. And they didn't look exactly right to me- until I added a little fabric paint in the center of the circle to mimic a carrot's core.
But I really love how the bag came together, it was easy to sew, and I had fun creating the the label with fabric paint. I also added some hook and loop to the opening of the bag to keep all the slices in.
