Red, White, and Blue Roundup

Is anyone else a bit surprised that it's already Memorial Day Weekend?

I feel like I've been in a time warp. I blinked and it went from Easter to the beginning of Summer! So with summer apparently here, standing on the doorstep, knocking on the door, and wondering why I still have an Easter Rabbit on display I thought I'd post a few of my past "Red, White and Blue" themed projects to welcome the season in.

These sparkler pops couldn't be simpler to make. No baking required! (Which is perfect for those hot summer days). And Ok, ok. I know these sparkler pops aren't technically Red, White, And Blue... but photo is. And in the case of the pops themselves, it's thematically implied.

Be forewarned- these flower pots can be kind of addictive. There are so many seasonal and color possibilities it's hard to stop making them. So far I've Spring and for the 4th of July versions, but I also think they'd be great for Halloween and Christmas too.

Adults and kids can both get into this project. Once you have some strips of paper cut, the cookie cutters do most of the work. The decorations can be as simple or as complex as you'd like. (It's also a perfect project for a rainy day!)

I originally made three versions of these muffins. All three versions are shown in my original post, but I have to admit these ones with the blueberry stars on top are my favorite.

I have some new 4th of July projects in mind, that I'll hopefully be sharing soon. Actually some of these projects have been in my mind for years now. Somehow the 4th always sneaks up on me. Before I know it, it's too late to post anything. (I really don't know how that happens since it's not one of the those floating holidays where the date changes from year to year... perhaps it goes back to that time warp I mentioned.)

Anyway, so this roundup is as much a revival of past projects as it is a gentle reminder to myself- to get going on those new projects ASAP.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hi Meg! Great projects! I'm so glad I check out all your posts on weaving the pots--it wasn't done how I first suspected! The muffins look fabulous--I'll be trying them, too.

Time sneaking up happens to me all the time--by the time I think I should have make some flowers for a particular holiday, it is too close to get them done & list. I'm trying to be better with that!
